Set-In, Three-Piece Neck

Fitted to the body using the sturdy set-in construction method, is a three-piece mahogany and maple neck. The Artstar profile is comfortably thinner traditional neck styles in order to increase ease of play, and maximise mobility around the neck. Married to the neck is a bound ebony fingerboard, which is home to 22-frets that have been treated to the Artstar fret-edge treatment - i.e. hand-rolled to facilitate smooth chord changes, and seamless transitions between frets. Acrylic and abalone block fingerboard inlays guide your way in style.

Super 58 Humbuckers

A pair of Super 80 pickups - fitted at the neck and bridge positions - offers a classic high-output tone with plenty of sparkle. Control comes in the form of a 3-way pickup selector switch, a master volume pot and a master tone pot. From thick and creamy tones produced by the neck pickups, to the direct and punchy mids of the bridge, or a combination of both, you are equipped to hit the stage or the studio with a huge tonal arsenal. Increasing your tonal options even further, the neck pickup is fitted with a Tri-Sound switch, which allows you to choose series/parallel/coil-tap wiring configurations. Finding the perfect tone when going from jazz to blues to hard rock, can be done at the flick of a switch.

Gig-Ready Hardware

The AS153B-BK is equipped with an ART-1 bridge, which is paired with the Quik Change III tailpiece to create a winning partnership that ensures intonation is upheld precisely. The nut, neck, neck joint, body, bridge and tailpiece, all work in harmony to optimise sustain, so that you can let notes ring out for days. All hardware is completed in gold, and along with the tortoise-coloured pickguard, complements the natural body finish beautifully.
