The AVCB9CE is a sublime acoustic bass guitar brought to us by Ibanez from their Artwood Vintage series. Expertly built using a range of innovative luthier techniques, this model went through a lot of thorough procedures before it became the finished article. Comfort and playability play a large part in making this bass stand out, while it is undeniable that the sound on offer is first-rate.

Body

The AVCB9CE has a Grand Concert body with a cutaway for full fret access. The Grand Concert style body is well-known for its ability to project with plenty of volume and this is further improved by the Thermo-Aging process employed by Ibanez when the guitar was built. The solid Sitka spruce body top sits atop of the mahogany back and sides, bringing warmth and depth to the bass' tones. The compact 32 inch scale body of the AVCB9CE is reinforced by Spruce X bracing in the top to withstand plenty of playing over the years.

The tonewood of the body is Thermo-Aged, which is a process that involves heating up the Sitka spruce inside a vacuum to release water and resin from the wood. By doing this, the wood becomes light but sturdy which in turn results in a much louder output across the frequencies. The natural colouring of the spruce is a little more ""amber"", too, for a vintage, aged appearance.

Neck

A smooth mahogany neck is firmly fitted to the AVCB9CE for a comfortable playing feel in the hand. The neck is topped with a slick rosewood fingerboard which is home to 22 frets. Decorative dot inlays are your handy guide during fret transitions.

Onboard Preamp

To amplify this acoustic bass, Ibanez have chosen a Fishman Sonicore pickup and Ibanez AEQ-SP2 preamp to fill this role. The preamp features a 2-band EQ for accurate tone control, while the pickup works wonderfully to translate the genuine, natural sounds of the bass when plugged into any desired amplifier.

Hardware

A rosewood bridge is fitted to the lower bout of the Grand Concert body, which works alongside the bone nut and saddle to increase sustain but maintain accurate string spacing for a clear sound. The headstock is decked out with reliable chrome die-cast tuners, upholding tuning integrity with precision.
