In order to recreate the coveted tonal character of the early 1960's Hummingbird, Gibson has gone to great lengths to meticulously capture the essence of what has lured so many influential guitar legends to this hallowed model - effectively leading the way during the dawn of a new musical era.

Thermally Cured Top

The Gibson 2016 Hummingbird Vintage acoustic guitar has been treated to a thermally cured top, in order to reincarnate the heavenly tones of the 1960s model. Still tasked with the job of providing an energetic projection is grade AA solid Sitka spruce, acting as the perfect soundboard, and completed in a truly divine vintage cherry sunburst finish. The finish is preserved by a protective hi-gloss 90 sheen lacquer, which is applied across the body to prevent premature damage from affecting the finish.

The back is built using two pieces of the finest mahogany, creating a smooth mid-range energy that develops beautifully within the depths of the square shoulder dreadnought body profile.

Single-piece Mahogany Neck

A single-piece mahogany neck has been fitted to the body
