Thinner than its modern counterpart, this finish allows the body of the Fender Classic Series '50s P Bass Lacquer to vibrate more freely, and therefore provide more resonance and a nicer tone. In addition you can expect the finish to age nicer, to give you a more pleasing vintage aesthetic over time.
Construction
The Fender Classic Series '50s Precision Bass Lacquer is comprised of time-tested components, alongside era-specific additions, to offer Fender tone and playability, with vintage good looks. Along with the nitrocellulose lacquer the alder body has also been treated to a gold anodised pickguard, which stands out nicely from the black finish.
Bolted to the body of the Classic Series Fender '50s Precision Bass Lacquer is a maple neck carved to the highly playable C-shape profile and finished with gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. On top of the neck is a 7.25""-radius maple fingerboard with 20 vintage-style frets and black dot inlays. This lies between a synthetic bone nut and a four-saddle American Vintage bass bridge. The'50s look continues throughout with Vintage-Style reverse tuners, strap buttons, 4-bolt neck plate, and truss rod nut, right down to the Vintage-Style split single-coil Precision Bass pickup; controllable by knurled chrome master volume and master tone control knobs.
The Classic Series offering of a Fender '50s Precision Bass Lacquer comes complete with a tweed case.
