The Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special electric guitar brings the much-loved design up to date to meet the needs of modern guitarists. Not only does the guitar sound fantastic, its body is finished in black and adorned with a sleek tortoiseshell pickguard, which makes the Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster look incredible.

Following on from the success of the Strat, Fender released the Jazzmaster to cater to the playing needs of jazz and blues players. The offset-waist body was designed to make the Jazzmaster comfortable to play in the seated position, as was common for jazz and blues' guitarists at the time. Following its popularity with surf rock bands, the Jazzmaster became the model of choice for many highly influential musicians including Elvis Costello, Robert Smith, Thurston Moore, Stephen Malkmus, J Mascis, and Kevin Shields - to name but a select few of a huge list! The Jazzmaster's incredible sustain, tonal versatility, raw power, comfortable playability, and unique design continues to make it a go to model for players across many musical genres.

          Body

The body has been fashioned from a tonewood that has been a favourite of Fender's for decades, alder. Thanks to alder's exquisite balance of tones from low to high, the Jazzmaster is afforded an exceptionally wide tonal palette from which to draw from. The body has been treated to a sultry black finish, offset beautifully by the tortoiseshell pickguard and protected by a slender layer of polyester.

Fitted to the body is the adjusto-matic bridge with vintage-style ""floating"" tremolo tailpiece and tremolo lock button. The Jazzmaster is hailed for its excellent sustain, and the bridge/tailpiece combo along with the generous scale length plays a huge part in this. Whether you're looking to inject some intricate vibrato into your playing or simply cruise through your chops, the bridge and tailpiece give you the choice to play as you wish, all the while quietly carrying out their task dutifully.

          Neck

Fitted to the body is a sublime maple neck, which has been shaped to the ""C"" shape profile that gives it a substantial feel in the hand that yields a fast-playing feel. The gloss urethane finish along the back of the neck prevents unwanted stickiness or tackiness from affecting manoeuvrability or playability, so that you may glide up and down the neck effortlessly. Married to the neck is a stunning rosewood fingerboard, home to 21 medium-jumbo frets that are adorned with dot position inlays.

          Electronics

The Classic Player Jazzmaster Special comes fitted with a pair of Special Design hot single-coil Jazzmaster pickups in the neck and bridge positions. One of the Jazzmaster's notable features is the pickup circuitry, which features a ""roller"" thumbwheel and slide switch. The slide switch selects between two different pickup circuit options: ""lead"" and ""rhythm"". In the lead position, the tone and volume knobs, and the 3-position pickup selector switch control the guitar,s tone. In the rhythm position, only the neck pickup is active, and the volume and tone are controlled by the two thumbwheels. Therefore, you can effectively set up two different settings within the guitar itself, to quickly switch between rhythm and lead tones. To say this arrangement is versatile would be a massive understatement.

The Fender Classic Player Jazzmaster Special in black is a dream guitar at down-to-earth price. With its smooth, clear tones, it definitely lives up to the ""Jazzmaster"" title, but is equally comfortable when being applied to any genre of music.
