The Popular Dreadnought Shape
The Fender CD-60 that is the headliner of the pack, is a dreadnought-shaped acoustic guitar. Dreadnought is just about the most popular acoustic guitar body shape out there, as it is one of the most comfortable and versatile available, making it excellent for those taking their first few steps, and of course those who have been playing for years.
The size of the body provides a good balance of robust bass and clear mids, to create an exceptional amount of power and projection to your playing, whether you,re playing lightly/with force and strumming/flatpicking.
Body Construction
As important as the shape of an acoustic guitar is the material from which it is made. With the CD-60, Fender have used a classic combination to create the body of the instrument, with a top made of spruce and the back and sides being mahogany. This combination is so popularised because of spruce,s capacity for providing clarity, brightness and a broad dynamic range, which is balanced perfectly by what mahogany brings to the table, as it has a warmer tone, with an emphasised mid-range.
The top of the guitar can be an area of weakness, in the Fender CD-60 this is combatted by the inclusion of scalloped X-bracing at the interior of the top. To reduce the mass of the bracing it is scalloped, which means that the top is able to resonate more freely, allowing it to produce a better tone and more projection.
Finishing the top of the guitar off is a black pickguard and a white pearloid acrylic rosette design, both of which complement the Sunburst gloss polyurethane finish nicely.
Nut, Neck, and Bridge
The 25.3""scale length of the Fender CD-60 Acoustic Guitar is made up of a nato neck, with a nut width of 1.69
