The Fender CD-140SCE Electro Acoustic utilises that most time-honoured of acoustic body shapes, the dreadnought. Noted because of its capacity to adapt to most genres, this body shape is the favourite of many, many artists. Before you even begin to talk about wood types you know this guitar will be an excellent flatpicker whilst being adept in strumming and fingerstyle playing, all the while arming you with plenty of projection and a full, resonant sound.

Body

Making up the body of the Fender CD140SCE Electro Acoustic is a solid spruce top and laminated mahogany back and sides. A popular choice for dreadnought construction, solid spruce pushes the envelope of projection even further as it provides high volume, crisp, clear highs that cuts its way through any mix. It also develops its own character as you play it in, giving you more and more over time.

The perfect companion to a top that provides a bright sound, the back and sides of the Fender CD 140SCE are constructed from laminated mahogany. This wood gives you a deep, rich, warm lower end and only adds to the projection of the instrument.

All the lovely tone and high projection of the Fender CD-140SCE Guitar is dressed nicely in a stark black, gloss finish, matched with a black pickguard and accented by a mother-of-pearl rosette.

Neck

Joined to the body of the Fender CD-140SCE Electro Acoustic Guitar is a nato neck that benefits from the support of a dual-action truss rod. This is satin-finished to give a smooth but grippy surface, paired with rosewood fingerboard for an easy to navigate playing surface comprised of 20 frets and smaller (3mm) white dot inlays.

The neck is sandwiched between a rosewood bridge, with a compensated Graphtech Nubone saddle and aged bridge pins, and a headstock branded with a mother-of-pearl Fender logo inlay and equipped with die-cast tuners.

Electronics

The Fender CD-140SCE Electro Acoustic Guitar is readily equipped with a Fishman Presys pickup system giving you the capability to plug into an amp or PA system for amplified sound. Along with giving an unspoilt representation of the guitar,s natural, unplugged tone the preamp or also gives you onboard sound options with volume, bass, mid, treble, and body (mid-sweep) controls all at hand. In addition it comes equipped with an onboard tuner, with LEDs displaying your tuning, and a low-battery indicator.
